System-wide dictation begins in the destination app, not in a transcript library. Open Mail, Notes, Slack, a browser form, a document, or a code editor. Click the exact field where the sentence should appear. Hold the dictation shortcut, speak naturally, then release it. Zimmer transcribes the recording locally and inserts the resulting text at that cursor.

Expected result: you remain in the same app and the spoken sentence becomes editable text. You can continue with the keyboard, dictate another sentence, or revise the output like anything you typed. This is deliberately different from uploading an audio file and collecting a transcript elsewhere.

Keep the first test short and ordinary: “Send the revised brief by Thursday afternoon.” Try it in Notes before moving to a complex web editor. If the sentence appears in Notes but not in another app, the speech pipeline is working and the issue is the destination field. That diagnosis is more useful than repeatedly changing the microphone.

Step 2: match the writing style to the app

If the result sounds unlike you: simplify the tone rule and test one sentence again. Dictation should preserve the claim, names, dates, and commitments you actually spoke. Review any client-facing or irreversible message before sending it; local processing changes where the work runs, not your responsibility for the final text.

Step 3: teach it the words you use

Zimmer AI includes a custom dictionary for names, product terms, abbreviations, and domain language that general speech recognition often guesses incorrectly. Add a troublesome word once, then repeat the short sentence that previously failed. This matters more in daily work than a generic accuracy score because the difficult words are usually the ones carrying the meaning.

Start with five terms you use every week: a colleague's surname, a customer or project name, one acronym, and two technical terms. Do not fill the dictionary with ordinary vocabulary. A small, deliberate list is easier to verify, and each new entry has a clear reason to exist.
